  1. There is a clever use of special effects to make the books falling off the shelf look realistic as part of the story. The match-on-action as the box is shown being thrown out of the window on to the grass outside is done well, and there is a seamless match-on-action when one of the characters picks up the box which was integrated so well it wasn't noticed the first time we saw it. The stabilisation of some tracking shots could be improved in future films and the acting in the film was quite stiff but the story was clear. The combination of diegetic and non-diegetic sound within the same scenes created a ominous tone to the scene, and was done very well.

  2. I thought the film was very effective, through its use of film techniques - mise-en-scene, editing and camerawork. It uses a wide variety of camera shots and camera movements, such as canted shots, close-ups, panning shots, and switches between steady camera and handheld camera. The practical effects used during the film are a highlight - such as when the books fall of the shelf, and when the box opens on its own. The storyline was easy to follow, as it wasn't overcomplicated and the editing made conversations coherent through its use of shot-reverse-shot and 180 degree rule.
